Known as Kelly Road and as, perhaps, as a bit of a seedy place that wasn't without it;s colorful people and wild lifestyles. A rough, local place with a history in gator hunting, fishing traps and its own set of rules for drinking.
Yes, "Kelly Road" also had artists and creative souls who lived in the area. Three 60 market, once known at The Drunken Pelican and The Med once known at The Anchor were the locals hung out, where walking home happened more often than not, or perhaps even crawling home for some.
Kelly Road since becoming Bayshore - Drive has certainly come along way and it hasn't been without its hardships, or years and years of tireless efforts.
Some of the first establishments on Bayshore Drive, took risks but were also part of its colorful past. From The Real Macaw, Green Door Nursery, Taqueria San Julian and let's not forget our real estate pioneers at Windstar. Those that followed, Three 60 Market, Ankrolab Brewing Co., The Gardenia, A.Jaron fine jewelry, Things I like and The Med.
We now have residential real estate following as well as commercial developments with Btq hotels coming in.
All of this would not have happened if it weren't for people like, Karen Beatty, Maurice Gutierrez, Steve Rigsbee, Shirley Garcia and Tami Scott, all a huge part of the Bayshore Gateway Triangle - CRA, here from the start and have mindfully curated Bayshore from its colorful past to its new colorful future and it is a colorful future.
The CRA, Collier Redevelopment Agency, is a County division that was created to help redevelop blighted or run down areas become something more! We have more than 1 CRA in Collier County and in fact there is also a FRA, Florida Redevelopment Agency.
The Bayshore Gateway Triangle |
Why the name? Well the history in the Bayshore area, truly had a better chance to be reimagine first, so it all started on "Bayshore Drive". However, if you cross 41 to Shadow Lawn and go West on Davis as well as going West on 41 towards Davis, it made sense to include that area. Commercial, residential, businesses, trades and more.
Bayshore is the "gateway" to the "Triangle" which simply got its name due to the shape. See my Bayshore Map.

County owned property was sold, is the small triangle in the large triangle, where Metropolitan Naples | Aura luxury condos and Ascend luxury apartments Are being developed. Both will have retail shops, eateries and things for locals and visitors to do.
Although some have concerns with the growth, many believe we have a gem and it should be built, aka redeveloped to better the area.
After sitting on the BGTA - CRA 2 1/2 years I learned plenty and strongly believe this is for the betterment of Collier County.
The goal over time is to blend the areas in becoming a new destination and a new place to call home.
